Our Story

Welcome to Girl Flow formerly known as Covered Girls!

At Girl Flow, we are dedicated to empowering young menstruators through our period positivity and product distribution initiatives. We wholeheartedly recognize the importance of menstrual equity, menstrual education and advocating for access to period products for those in need. We strive to eliminate the stigma around periods and provide education on starting and managing periods. Through our advocacy work, we aim to create a world where every young menstruator has access to the resources they need for a positive menstrual experience.

With a rich history spanning over eight years, we have been actively engaged in providing mentoring, empowerment workshops, housing and support services to young women in the Charlotte Metro area.

Meet the Founder

In 2015, Tashina Figueroa established the organization (formerly Covered Girls) with a desire to cultivate a nurturing environment that educates, empowers, and equips young women, enabling them to lead healthy and productive lives despite challenges. With a robust nonprofit background spanning 15 years, Tashina has actively collaborated with numerous projects in the support and development of teen girls and young adult women. As a dedicated mentor and advocate, her passion lies in empowering marginalized populations, with a primary focus on the well-being of teen girls and young adult women. Tashina holds a Master's in Executive Leadership from Liberty University and a graduate certification in Management and Leadership, so she brings a wealth of knowledge to her initiatives. Tashina also proudly serves as a certified advocate for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB), concentrating on creating a positive social impact within marginalized communities. She is also a Certified Nonprofit Professional with the National Nonprofit Leadership Alliance. Tashina's extensive nonprofit experience involves facilitating workshops, program management and development, transitional housing, relationship building and fundraising. Devoted to making a meaningful difference, Tashina utilizes her leadership skills, relationship-building acumen, and educational background to foster positive change within the community.
